Is Anyone Else Getting Google Server Errors?

I’ve been getting a lot of Server Error messages like the one below (click on the image to make it larger).

Google Server Error Message

It reads:

“The server encountered a temporary error and could not complete your request. Please try again in 30 seconds.”

Until Darren Rowse recently told me that he noticed it too, I assumed it was just a browser related problem that was specific to my computer. If it was related surely (I reasoned) would have fixed it by now.

It seems to happen mostly on my post pages and not the main page. Sometimes the post page will just crash without an error message and I have to refresh it again.

Has anybody else noticed this and do you know what is causing it? Is it a problem with in general, or is it specific to my blog only?

“`

UPDATE: It looks like I’m not the only one having this problem.

I got the error last night only !

I don’t remember what I clicked but it has been fine since !

Thanks Jaffer. I just happened to me twice again today.

Please let me know if it happens again and what you clicked. I would be interested if you notice this happening on others blogs as well.

I haven’t seen it until you mentioned it. I’m reading you in Google Reader, click to visit and I can see that post just fine. However, I scroll down a bit more in my reader and find out that you won’t be coming to visit me in Vegas after all, so I click on that post to comment there too (too bad - it would have been fun!) and on that one I get the error. I’m using my brand spanking new laptop with Vista, which is kinda annoying me but I’ll make it comply with my wishes sooner or later.

Thanks Kirsten. I’ve got a hunch there’s a conflict between my blogger custom domain settings and my domain name DNS settings.

Blogger recently added a new feature that I enabled and it could be the reason for the problem.

I’m going to play around with the settings and see what I come up with. In the mean time please keep me posted if the problem continues.

I’m disappointed about Las Vegas too. I’ve never been there and I would have liked to meet you.

Bloke — I got that error twice yesterday when I clicked on a couple “Best of the Bloke” items in the sidebar.

Tried again this morning and it’s OK now.

I got that error message last night too when I clicked on the first post. I didn’t find it on any other blogs.

Thanks Kathy and Sean. Keeping my fingers crossed.

I made some changes to my domain settings in Blogger. If this works I will have an important announcement to make with respect to setting up your Custom Domain.

Ahhh to have a ‘wait for thirty seconds’ message.
Out in the badlands of Central Asia i’m lucky if i can get gmail to load up.

UPDATE: It looks like I’m not the only one having this problem. This is more widespread than just my blog so obviously Google there’s a new bug that needs to a-fixing.

I disabled my custom domain setting and re-enabled it to see if that will jog some sense into it. But it’s not just happening to custom domains but even blogspot addresses are affected.

It seems that it’s not just you. I’ve just been visiting Mikes Money Making Mission and got error messages too:

“We’re sorry, but we were unable to complete your request.

“When reporting this error to Blogger Support or on the Blogger Help Group, please:

“Describe what you were doing when you got this error . . .”

That error message sounds a little different than mine. Besides the flu, maybe there’s a blogger cold going around too.

I am glad that I finally ditched blogger and custom domains. I have moved my blogger blog to wordpress. What will happen if google someday accidentally deletes your blog or removes it? With your own hosted solution, you are in total control of your blog.

Hey, BB, did you make the switch to wordpress yet? The layout is really easy to customise

No, not yet. I’m using this platform to experiment with designs because I’m intimately knowledgeable with the Blogger code.

But I expect to be going Wordpress sometime next month.

Nice job by the way. What theme did you use? Are you hosting it yourself?

It’s happening again here. I keep getting the same error and cannot access any blogspot/blogger pages. Maybe it’s down due to maintenance?

Hi Paul. It’s a bug in the google servers that they never resolved. Just another reason why I left Blogger for Wordpress. It’s the best (blog) decision that I ever made.

Hmmm… just got the error for the first time ever tonight… It’s happening for every blogger page I attempt to go to! How frustrating!

    MyAvatars 0.2

Still! Time to move over to Wordpress.
